Acucote, Inc. History Over 25 Years of Quality and Expertise
In 1987, Acucote Inc. was founded in Graham, NC by a group of pressure-sensitive experts. With a combined experience totaling more than 100 years, our founders based their new production business on environmentally-sound, water-based adhesives and coatings, ensuring Acucote’s viability for decades to come.
In 1994, Acucote designed and installed a 100% solids technology silicone coating line, serving both the internal release liner needs and the external needs of the silicone-coated substrate market. That same year, Acucote acquired Burlington, NC-based Adtech Corp., the adhesive technologies facility for 3M. This division would later be consolidated into the company’s Graham, NC corporate headquarters in 2001.
Gaining National Coverage and Shifting Focus
In 2002, our company continued to solidify its national network with the addition of a new slitting and distribution warehouse in Garland, TX. Combined with similar facilities in Pennsylvania, Ohio and California, Acucote could then bring the added convenience of regional distribution coverage to customers nationwide.
We recognized a demand in the marketplace, and in 2003, we changed our focus toward a more technically-complex, specialty product mix. Also, a second slitter was acquired and installed in the Garland, TX distribution center, doubling the facility’s capacity
New Markets and Enhanced Film Capabilities
In 2005, Acucote became a founding member of the Brand Protection Alliance. This organization consisted of ten corporations that facilitated the sales of specialty packaging materials in the brand verification and product anti-counterfeiting markets. We also installed a corona treater, expanding our film products capabilities in 2005.
2006 brought major improvements in finished roll rewind and splicing equipment to Acucote’s silicone coater. In 2007, our North Carolina facility installed a 60-inch slitter specific to film products. We also acquired and installed computerized silicone-mixing equipment to improve release liner consistency. Additionally, our Ohio facility expanded its slitting capacity and capabilities with the addition of a 60-inch slitter.
