Acucote Inc. has extended its line of frangible, voiding and tamper-evident products to include complete customization. Options for tamper-evident labelstocks have typically included the standard silver and white facestocks with the term “VOID” in a diagonal pattern. Acucote is now providing converters the ability to offer their customers a product that will differentiate them in security packaging.
Acucote’s newest product line, Custom Voiding Facestocks, is flexible in that it allows for the customization of voiding text (company name or virtually any message), the option to PMS color match the facestock, or, if desired, customers can display shapes and logos as the void pattern instead of plain text.
Utilizing a polyester base, this program is available 9.5″ x 5,000′ or by master width at 54″ x 2,500′ (or more). The 9.5″ program has a minimal setup fee of $100, plus MSI cost, for custom text or graphics and our master roll program has a $650 setup fee plus MSI cost. Please note, prices may vary depending on the color selection and/or custom pattern. Duplicate orders do not require additional setup fees. Standard void items with custom colors are also available without a setup fee.
Now offering single-ply, single-side and two-sided message IRCs for flexo and digital presses
Acucote introduces its latest Instant Redeemable Coupon (IRC) product line; Diamond-Cote® Single-ply (SP). The single-ply, single-message design converts exactly like standard pressure-sensitive applications – no lamination required. Diamond-Cote® SP minimizes material costs and improves productivity by eliminating the process of delamination and relamination that is typical for converting coupon products.
IRComplete™, Acucote’s most innovative Diamond-Cote® SP solution, is everything you need for a single-ply, two-sided message coupon. As with all Diamond-Cote® SP solutions, the advantage of IRComplete™ is its ability to convert on press exactly like standard pressure-sensitive applications, even with its two-sided messaging capabilities. Compared to other two-sided coupon solutions, this product offers fewer roll changes, faster setup times, improved run speeds, less scrap and it can be produced on a digital press.
Both the IRComplete™ and 55# Semi Gloss Diamond-Cote® SP products are offered No Trim. 2.6 mil Vision Gloss Diamond-Cote® SP, Red Fluorescent Diamond-Cote® SP, Direct Thermal High Speed Diamond-Cote® SP and all purpose Thermal Transfer Diamond-Cote® SP have a MOQ of 2,500′ and are slit to order. All products are offered with AT4505, a permanent all-temperature acrylic adhesive, on a 40# liner. Custom adhesives and liners are available.
Diamond-Cote® SP solutions utilize Acucote’s standard Diamond-Cote® release system. The diamond pattern, a geometric-designed release system, allows for virtually any converted die cut label shape and size to remove cleanly and easily from a variety of substrates. All Diamond-Cote® and Diamond-Cote® SP solutions are ballpoint pen writable.
Frank Warner, production plant manager, completes Coating Tech Institute 2014
Coating Tech Institute 2014, a user conference for the slot die coating industry was held Aug. 19‐21, 2014 in Green Bay, Wis. and hosted by Coating Tech Slot Dies. Warner completed the two and a half day training session which included a day of intensive classroom education on topics ranging from rheology to defect resolution in slot die coating technology. Day two of the user conference offered hands on opportunities at operational coating stations at B&W MEGTEC Systems, Inc. of the Green Bay area. Day three included a wrap up session and summary of all material covered.

Acucote Inc. has expanded its sales and marketing team. Dan O’Connell has recently accepted the position of vice president. O’Connell brings more than 30 years of sales, marketing and operational management experience in the pressure-sensitive labelstock industry. “Dan’s main focus is to continue to grow top line sales; primarily through expanding customer market share and facilitating the launching of customized solution-oriented products,” said Gene Lauffer, chief operating officer.
Extensive film line now includes three new polypropylenes
Acucote Inc. introduces thinner films to its current BOPP product line. These additions are economic alternatives to current marketplace selections. Offering raw material cost savings, potential efficiency cost reductions and an improved environmental footprint; these downgauged films extend Acucote’s prime and variable print BOPP labelstocks.
New additions to Acucote’s prime label offerings include the 2.4 mil White Topcoat and the 2.6 White Vision Gloss Topcoat. The 2.4 mil White Topcoat is a cost-effective substitute for Acucote’s current 2.6 mil White Gloss Topcoat.The 2.4 mil maintains the same opacity and topcoating as the 2.6 mil.
The 2.6 White Vision Gloss is a mid gloss option between high gloss and matte finish facestocks.
For the variable print market, Acucote now stocks 2.6 mil White Premium Thermal Transfer. Serving as an alternative to the 3 mil White Thermal Transfer, this facestock has a smoothersurfaceand results in sharper imaging through thermal transfer printers and much improved flexo printability.
Products are offered through AcuChoice program with GPX adhesive on a 40# liner. GPX is a water-based acrylic general purpose adhesive designed to adhere to a variety of surface applications. These new offerings are available No Trim with a minimum order quantity of 3” x 5,000’. Products are initially stocked in North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
Additional adhesive and liner combinations are available on a custom coat basis.

Acucote was also selected because of the efforts of its business development team. “Acucote’s business development team has gone above and beyond when working toward resolving our application needs,” said Ronald Platt Jr., Gill Studios purchasing department manager.
Gill Studios’ purchasing department received more than 30 supplier nominations from employees. All suppliers were then evaluated, and six were selected for the Commitment to Excellence supplier award.
More than 25 facestocks paired with water-resistant adhesive
Acucote Inc. offers a complete line of specialty, pressure-sensitive materials designed for the unique labeling requirements of the wine industry.
Offering more than 25 material constructions, customers can select from a variety of facestocks to fulfill application requirements. This line includes textured, embossed, pearlescent, gloss and natural finish stocks; several are treated for wet strength performance.
Acucote wine/beer label products feature Manter’s SH 6020 Plus™ permanent acrylic adhesive. Designed for maximum water resistance, SH 6020 Plus™ avoids the formation of winkles caused by humidity and condensation. When refrigerated or immersed in ice, SH 6020 Plus™ resists degradation for up to 4 hours. Upon initial application, constructions are repositionable for 30 minutes.
Beyond wine labels, this line should be considered for microbrew beers, gourmet food packaging and upscale health and beauty products. All items are available no trim with a minimum order quantity of 3” x 5,000’. Master width is 39.37”. A variety of program specific liners are available.

Alternative construction for high-end affixed cards now available with significant cost savings
LiftCote® Plus 1 is Acucote’s newest addition of clean-release coupon products. This construction provides a thicker gauge and more durability than standard LiftCote® offerings.
LiftCote® Plus 1 is designed for high-end, affixed card production where longevity is essential. For affixed cards that typically require a 7.5 mil White Laser PET combination, customers can now purchase LiftCote® Plus 1 with a 5 mil White Laser PET. This combination provides a significantly lower cost per msi without sacrificing durability or product stiffness.
LiftCote® Plus 1 constructions are available with all standard LiftCote® patterns and Diamond-Cote Tight® products. This clean-release, laser printable product is a candidate for direct mail; healthcare, frequent buyer, temporary identification and membership cards; coupons; integrated cards and punch cards. All LiftCote® and Diamond-Cote® Tight coupon products are ballpoint pen writable.
Acucote’s extended coupon line includes standard LiftCote®, LiftCote® Plus 1 and Diamond-Cote® Tight, providing a variety of options for both credit card and noncredit card sized applications. Diamond-Cote® EZ products are available for Instant Redeemable Coupons [IRC].

Effective immediately, Gene Lauffer fulfills role of COO
Gene Lauffer has been promoted to chief operating officer at Acucote Inc.Gene joined Acucote in 2008 as the national sales manager. In 2011, he accepted the position of vice president of sales and later served as the senior vice president of commerce.He has worked in the pressure-sensitive label stock industry for 30 years, and as COO he will continue to provide leadership and energy to Acucote.
Mike Hudson has been hired as the national sales manager; effective immediately. He joins Acucote with more than 15 years of sales and sales management experience in the paper, adhesive, converting and labeling industries.
Acucote would also like to extend a happy retirement to former COO, Rick Cromer. Rick was influential in establishing a nationwide sales force and was essential in Acucote’s evolution from a manufacturer of commodity products to an established, custom label stock supplier.
